Christmas At Carrington’s By Alexandra Brown

[amazon_link id=”0007488254″ target=”_blank” ]Christmas At Carringtons[/amazon_link]’Christmas At Carrington’s is the second Carrington’s book from Alexandra Brown.

Georgie Hart loves Christmas at Carrington’s Department Store. Running the luxury handbag department Georgie adores helping customers in the hunt for the perfect gift for the perfect someone. And this year is no exception – now she has the hunky Tom, Mr Carrington himself, to spend the special day with. But when Tom springs a surprise, Georgie’s plans are thrown into chaos. Carrington’s is getting a fresh lease of life in a hot new reality TV show, featuring formidable retail guru, Kelly Cooper. As the first show airs, Georgie is shown in a far from flattering light. Worse is to come when Kelly’s vile daughter appears to get her claws into To,pm. Georgie fears will be the worst Christmas ever, but Santa still has a little surprise for her stocking this year – she’ll just have to wait until Christmas to find out.

If life and work hadn’t gotten in the way, I would have finished this book much sooner, each rare moment that I was able to settle down and enjoy this Christmas was a treasure, as I returned to my favourite department store.

The story continues months on since Georgie fell for the glorious and dashing Tom, a man every girl would swoon over. Loved up and happy, she is oblivious to the fact the Carrington’s is on the decline and when a camera crew swoops in and films the department store’s makeover, in a reality TV show, Georgie suddenly finds herself being the nations sweetheart.

Unsuspecting of the first air of the show, which shows Georgie in an unflattering light, she becomes an unlikely leading lady of the show, with her warm character and bubbly nature, everyone loves her. People ask for her autograph on the bus and celebrities want to date her.

Not only do the people fall for Georgie, but also they love Eddie. Deliciously flamboyant and devilish, he adds a wallop of humour and fun to the story, with his sayings and sharp tongue plus the addition of his adorable dog, Pussy added an element of cuteness to the tale.

I loved ‘Christmas at Carrington’s’ and thought it was a delightful festive story, but even though the story is mainly of a funny nature, there are some sad and sensitive moments, that do you make sigh. With beautifully loud, likeable and funny characters, a wardrobe and accessories to die for, handsome men and one-liners and scenes, that will make you snigger, this is another cleverly written, warm and charming story from Alexandra Brown.
