Forever by Maggie Stiefvater
I was a little bit sad when I began to read “Forever” by Maggie Stiefvater as I knew it was the concluding story to the complicated lives of Grace and Sam.
“Forever” carries on from “Linger” left off and it seems that the tables have turned in the young lovers relationship, as Grace now has become a wolf and is hiding in the woods. Whilst Sam anxiously awaits for her return, he has to deal with damming looks and accusations that he was something to do with her disappearance.
Meanwhile rebellious rock star Cole, is determined to find a cure for the wolves whilst moody Isobel has to deal with her reluctant attraction to the star.
But then things take a turn for the worse, when a girl’s body is found in the woods and the wolves are blamed, so the community of Mercy Falls decide that it’s time to rid the town of the wolves and a hunt is organised.
Distaught, that Grace’s life is now in jeopardy and he could possibility lose her, Sam has no other choice but to face up to the demons that he has managed to contain for years. With the help of Cole and Isobel, he is determined to save the wolves and more importantly the love of his life.
Like “Linger” and “Shiver”, “Forever” is another heart-wrenching tale about Grace and Sam who in my opinion make one of the sweetest literary couples. I love their innocence and love for one another that seems to get stronger with each book. The additional characters Cole and Isobel add a light hearted element to the love story, as they struggle with their own complicated attraction.
As a conclusion, I thought “Forever” was a turbulent ending to the trilogy as they struggle to be together, as it seems everyone and everything seems to be against the couple finally getting their happy ever after. Although it was turbulent and rocky road for the couple, “Forever” is a wonderful ending to the trilogy, that even made me shed a little tear at the last page, as I said goodbye to the sweet couple.
