The ladies of The Chocolate Lovers’ Club should be gearing up for the wedding of the year but life keeps getting in the way. Lucy is worried about her financial situation and it keeps distracting her. Should she accept an offer of help from an untrustworthy source? Nadia may have a real chance at finding love but other areas of her life aren’t so rosy. Something needs to change – but what?
Autumn can’t wait to meet someone she hasn’t seen in a very long time. She’s full of hope for the future but then things don’t exactly go to plan. Chantal has been through so much and she’s finally starting to feel settled. The last thing she needs is the kind of bad news that could change her life all over again. And yet, despite all the ups and downs, the Chocolate Lovers’ ladies know they can get through it all as long as they have each other. They’re not going to let anything get in the way of their happy-ever-afters in . . . The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding

‘The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding sees the return of our favourite group of chocolate lovers as they deal with the recent dramas of their lives whilst preparing for the wedding of the year. The story revolves around the lives of best friends Lucy, Nadia, Autumn and Chantal, a close knit group who share more than just a mutual love for chocolate, they are close friends, who have each others back when things get rough.

The story is written in the first person for Lucy, who is the main character of the story whilst the three other friends are written in the third person. I liked the fact that the story was seen primarily through the eyes of Lucy, as she is an incredibly warm and entertaining person who provides a lot of humour in the tale. She is preparing for her wedding, but is finding it all a bit stressful when she is sacked from her tempting job, her reckless ex keeps popping up and begging her to return to her dream job and meanwhile her father has turned up unannounced claiming that he’s single and homeless. Stressed and unable to find the perfect cafe, she finds herself returning to work to Chocolate Heaven, a place that she loves dearly but sadly her fiancé Crush is against the idea as it’s owned by her ex boyfriend, Marcus.

But Lucy, isn’t the only person in the Chocolate Lovers Club who is having problems as her other friends are dealt with issues of their own. Chantal is just getting her life in order with her boyfriend Jacob when her life takes a dramatic turn. After being mugged, Nadia no longer feels safe in the city and finds herself on guard and thoughts travel to moving down to the quiet countryside to be with her boyfriend where everything seems much safer and Autumn is plucking up the courage to meet the daughter that she had to give up for adoption many years ago.

As a fan of Carole’s books, I loved this story and as it follows on from a series, it gives a great insight into how the ladies lives have progressed. The story is written in her trademark style of short and snappy chapters with sharp and witty dialogue and dramas. It’s a genuinely uplifting story that tugs at the readers heartstrings with humorous situations, relatable characters and where every page is a twist, I found this book impossible to put down. I envied the circle of friends, as their bond was so strong between them and how much they were there for each other, where they lacked in family and blood, they made up with their friendship. Filled with fun, poignant moments and the occasional sad scene, ‘The Chocolate Lovers’ Wedding’ is a delicious story about love, friendship, starting over and most importantly chocolate.
