Laura has been married to the man of her dreams for seven months, but the week before the wedding, Matthew made a terrible mistake. Escaping the humiliation that is now her marriage, Laura is whisked off to Florida’s Keys West by her friends, a carefree holiday is exactly what the doctor ordered. But then distraction comes in the form of sexy Cuban scuba diver Leo. Laura’s instant attraction to him knocks her flying and she falls hard. As the end of her holiday approaches, Laura doesn’t want to go home. Is it time to face the music or is this attraction more than just a holiday romance.

What is about Paige Toon’s books that make you want to lock all the doors and turn your phone so the book has your complete undivided attention with no interruptions and you can read in peace. This has become my routine now when I read Paige’s books, I become a social recluse avoiding conversations with colleagues at break times, keeping my head down so I can consume the book, like my life depends on it and then when it comes to end. You sit back, sad that it has finished and eager for her to write her next one.

Just like ‘One Perfect Summer’, Paige has created another book, that you will rapidly fall in love with. Our heroine of the story is Laura, who after discovering her new husband’s shocking secret goes off on an adventure with her best friend Marty and Bridget to Florida Keys West, for a carefree holiday packed with cocktails and fun. But just when Laura thinks that her life can’t get any trickier, distraction comes in the shape of sexy Leo, who introduces her to the fun end exciting side of life.

Laura is great main character, one that you can instantly care for and would like as a best friend, genuinely warm and fun, she brings a breath of fresh air to the story, as she goes of on her adventure to discover what her options are in life. Her best friends, Marty and Bridget, are also great friends, providing shoulders for Laura to cry on and distractions to occupy her. Meanwhile the men of the story are Matthew, Laura’s distraught husband eager for his wife’s return and the handsome Leo, the quiet and brooding Cuban, who Laura reluctantly falls for. A wonderful man, that I imagine many women lusted after whilst reading this story and also like Joe in ‘One Perfect Summer’ I also kinda developed a crush on the dashing young man.

Set in the exotic location of Florida West Keys where the sun is always shining and a deep sea dive is readily on offer, it almost felt like we were with Laura on her discovery around the sunny island and her adventures of Miami, as Paige gave such vivid descriptions. With wonderful dialogue and one of the prettiest lines that I have read in a while “Don’t wait for the storm to pass; learn to dance on the rain…” Absolutely beautiful.

‘The Longest Holiday’ is another one of Paige’s fabulous books and in true Paige’s style of writing where your happy ever after is never easy, there is a wonderful gripping twist at the end that you could never see coming. Beautifully written with enchanting characters, this book is an addictive read that will captivate you throughout. Just when you think Paige’s books can’t get any better, she releases another best seller that you can’t put down, it’s only April and I have found a strong contender for my favourite book of the year!
