[amazon_link id=”B00ZFSOFIA” target=”_blank” ][/amazon_link]Amanda Prowse is spoiling us with another new book out this year called ‘Three And A Half Heartbeats’ and all the proceeds from this exclusive ebook will go to The UK Sepsis Trust.
Sepsis, or septicaemia, kills one person every three and a half seconds. In the UK, it’s estimated that there are 37,000 deaths from Sepsis every year.Yet still only 40% of the public know what sepsis is and know that it is a serious medical emergency. Amanda’s book is complete fiction but has its basis in tragic facts.
The story of ‘Three And A Half Heartbeats’ is –
Grace and Tom Penderford are a normal loving married couple, with a comfortable home in Hertfordshire and a beautiful baby girl, Chloe. When Chloe is three years old she has to have her tonsils out. It’s a fairly straight forward operation. When they get her home she’s shivering, she hasn’t peed all day and she’s very quiet. Her parents call the hospital: the nurse suggests they bring her in, if they’re really worried, but her parents don’t want to be melodramatic: it’s probably just a cold. No point wasting hospital time.
A few hours later Chloe collapses.
It is a heart-retching, beautifully writing short novel which explores a disease which so few people know about and which can be so easily cured.
Sepsis is horrible but it’s important to talk about it. The UK Sepsis Trust are hoping to raise £500,000 from the sales of this ebook, money which will help raising awareness amongst the public and medical profession. Also referred to as septicaemia, Sepsis is a deadly disease which, shockingly, very few people know about and even fewer know that it is a medical emergency
