The Ever After Of Ella And Micha By Jessica Sorensen

The Ever After Of Ella And Micha‘The Ever After Of Ella And Micha’is the latest book by Jessica Sorensen and is the concluding book in her Ella and Micha saga.

The day Ella has waited for is just around the corner. It’s the day she’ll marry Micha, the love of her life, the light that guided her out of the darkness. It looks like it will be the perfect Christmas, until an unexpected package arrives with a harsh reminder of Ella’s past. Suddenly Ella doesn’t feel as confident about her future. Can she really have a ‘happily-ever-after’ if she’s never even seen one? Micha will stand by Ella no matter what she’s going through, though he worries that she might leave him standing at the altar again. When he’s offered a once-in-a-lifetime chance to tour with his favourite bands for three months, Micha knows he can’t leave Ella behind. But can he ask her to uproot her life to join him on the road? Now Ella and Micha must find a way to balance their fears, their dreams, and their love . . . if they ever want to hear wedding bells.

‘The Secret Of Ella And Micha’ was not only the first book from the Ella and Micha series but also the first book that I read by Jessica Sorensen. Reading this dark and angst ridden book brought me back to a time where I too would stare dreamily back at Jordan Catalano and swoon like Angela Chase. That was what I initially compared Jessica’s books to, like an episode of ‘My So Called Life’, complicated and with a broody boy with long hair and most importantly, in a band.

The series has followed the young couple on their journey, the ups and downs as Ella battles with her own mental health and self worth and Micha trying to get somewhere with his music career.

In the concluding book, it begins with the couple on their wedding day, preparing for their future together but Ella has cold feet and panics. So instead of a small wedding ceremony they decide to return to their hometown of where their relationship all began and have their wedding with their families.

Like her previous books, the chapters alternate between Ella and Micha and they are written in Jessica’s honest and outspoken style. With the sudden appearance of her dead mothers journal, Ella has to deal with fears of her own mental health, as she begins to see similarities between herself and her mother and worries that she will turn out the same. Although she is a strong character, her main concern is Micha and worries that her problems will hold him back in life. Whereas Micha is besotted with her and only ever dreamt of being with the girl next door and is there to reassure Ella every time she has a breakdown.

A sweet addition to the story is the inclusion of first meetings between the two when they were children, how their relationship blossomed over the years and where it wrong. I enjoyed this sentimentality of these chapters.

This book is a powerful and intense story, that will have you hooked throughout. Written with raw emotions and dealing with the issues of mental health, ‘The Ever After Of Ella And Micha’ is a sweet ending to the young couples love story.

The Forever of Ella and Micha By Jessica Sorensen

The Forever of Ella and Micha‘The Forever of Ella and Micha’ is the follow-up book to ‘The Secret of Ella and Micha’ by New York Times bestselling author, Jessica Sorensen.

Micha spends his days travelling the country with the band, but being away from Ella is harder than he thought. He wants her closer to him – needs her with him. But he won’t ask her to leave college, just to be with him. The few moments they do spend together are fleeting, intense and filled with passion. They know they want to be together, but is wanting something enough to get them to their forever?

As a fan of Jessica Sorensen and particularly of Ella and Micha, I was delighted when I received a copy of ‘The Forever of Ella and Micha’ and immediately started to read about the tempestuous relationship of the young couple.

The story continues on where ‘The Secret of Ella and Micha’ left off, Ella has gone off to university whilst Micha is on the road with his band touring. Through dramas of family issues, Ella’s battle with her emotions and trust issues that both people harbour, the relationship rarely runs smoothly and is often a volatile one.

With the chapters alternating from both characters, it gives an insight into their hopes and fears for the relationship that they have worked so hard for. Micha is still as strong willed and as passionate as in the previous book, a character that I easily fell for, with pet names, a gentle nature and Jessica’s vivid description of the young gentleman, It was easy to understand Ella’s desire for him.

Whilst Ella was a poor troubled soul, that you did feel sympathy for. A deep thinker with the occasional burst of life, that made you laugh at her recklessness and abandon. Both characters best friends Lily and Ethan, provided welcome a welcome distraction for the couple, as they shared their troubles with their friends, as they understood the complex relationship.

Having enjoyed ‘The Secret of Ella and Micha’ I was delighted with the follow up book and thought it gave an element of closure into one of my favourite couples of 2013. Deliciously sexy, that was definitely a bit more darker and scandalous than the first book, ‘The Forever of Ella and Micha’ is another gripping and intense story filled with angst, the complications of first love and moving forward. I loved it!

You can buy The Forever of Ella and Micha on Amazon and will be available to buy from good bookshops.

Jessica Sorensen

Jessica SorensenJessica Sorensen lives in Wyoming with her husband and three children. She is the author of numerous romance novels and all her Young Adult novels have been ‘New York Times’ bestsellers.

  1. Your books of Ella and Micha are about a young couple who were once best friends but have ventured into a relationship together. Through the eyes of both of them, we join them on the trials and tribulations of life and first love. What inspired you to create these particular characters?
The characters and story were inspired by a dream I had that I couldn’t quite seem to shake.
  2. To the readers of the blog, that may not be familiar with you or your writing, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into writing?
I’ve always loved to write and have been writing short stories and poetry for as long as I can remember. About five or six years ago I started writing my first novel and I haven’t stopped writing since.
  3. What’s your favourite book of all time?
There are so many great books and authors out there that I honestly don’t have a favourite.
  4. After the success of your books and being a ‘New York Times’ bestseller, what do you think in your opinion makes a good book?
For me, I love a books with complex and broken characters, with a little bit of romance mixed in with it. But everyone likes different things; this is just what I like.
  5. I always thought the opening lines to ‘The Lovely Bones’ was quite memorable, are there any opening lines to books that stuck out to you?
The first one that comes to mind is ‘The Sea of Tranquility’ by Katja Millay.
  6. If Ella and Micha were to be adapted for screen, who do you imagine playing the roles of them?

I honestly have no idea. I have this picture in my head of what each of them look like and I’ve yet to come across anyone who fits them perfectly.
  7. The thing that I loved most of the Ella and Micha series, was that it brought me back to my own time as a teenager captivated by the first love and angst of Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano in ‘My So Called Life’. I think that the Ella and Micha series is the My So Called Life for now; How do you feel about this comparison?
Love the show by the way and I like the comparison. I think I’d flip the roles, though because Ella seems more like Jordan to me, and Micha like Angela since, like Angela, Micha is the one pursuing the romance.
  8. With the success of ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Hunger Games’, what do you think it is about the Young Adult genre that have made them appeal to a much wider market?
I think the young adult genre has so much intensity in it because the characters are at an age where everything is intense. I think it reminds readers of their youth and the intensity of their first love and that’s part of the appeal
  9. If you were stranded on a desert island, which three books would you bring with you to pass the time?
    ‘Clean’ by Amy Reed
‘Fall for Anything’ by Courtney Summers
    ‘Hush Hush’ by Becca Fitzpatrick

However, there’s a good chance if you asked me the same question tomorrow the list would change. I have too many favourites.

  10. When sitting down to write, what is the one item you need beside you?
Post-it’s and a pen for taking notes.
  11. And finally Jessica, do you have any projects or releases on the horizon which you would like to share with the readers of the website?
I have quite a few! Here are a few of my upcoming New Adult Books:
‘The Temptation of Lila and Ethan’
‘The Redemption of Callie and Kayden’
‘The Destiny of Violet and Luke’
    ‘Breaking Nova’

The Coincidence Of Callie And Kayden By Jessica Sorensen

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden‘The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden’is the latest book by New York Times bestselling author, Jessica Sorensen.

Callie has grown up keeping her feelings locked away from the outside world and as her painful past threatens to consume her life, most days it’s a struggle just to breathe. For as long as Kayden can remember, suffering in silence has been the only way to survive, until one night when Callie and Kayden’s worlds collide. After that moment, Kayden can’t stop thinking about Callie and when they end up at the same college, he does everything in his power her that it isn’t coincidence, it’s fate.

‘The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden’ is the second book that I have read by Jessica Sorenson and just like ‘The Secret of Ella and Micha’ I wholeheartedly fell in love with the characters and the storyline.

The story is seen through alternating chapters between Callie and Kayden as they go off to college and start their new lives, both trying to run from their pasts and their secrets and both completely unaware that the high school jock and school weirdo have a lot more in common than they ever could have imagined.

I loved Callie, I thought she was the sweetest, most gentle and fragile of a character that I have read in recent times. Wonderfully unaware of just how special a person she is, she prefers to blend into the background in fear that the one secret that has haunted her since her twelfth birthday will come bursting out of her. The only person she has ever confided in,is her best friend Seth, a fantastically flamboyant and outspoken person who adds a touch of humour to the intense tale and has always got a shoulder for Callie to lean on when times get tough.

Kayden is the hero of the story that you instantly fall in love with, brooding, intense, gentle and unashamedly handsome, I found myself smiling at this character a lot. The thing that I have discovered with Jessica’s writing and books, is that she is particularly good at creating male characters, that you can relate to, understand and fall for, through her outspoken dialogue and vivid descriptions of baggy jeans hanging on his hips, the beanie that hides his hair or even the descriptions of Kayden’s arms, I did find myself sighing a lot at this story.

When I initially reviewed ‘The Secret of Ella and Micha’ I likened the story to the American Young Adult drama series ‘My So Called Life’, the intense and troubled young adults battling with new emotions and feelings and in a way I was kind of expecting ‘The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden’ to be the same but I was pleasantly surprised that the story was completely different. Although both series feature young couples battling love and secrets, ‘The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden’ is a much darker and intense story with sweet innocent scenes of friendship and love that had me gripped from the start. As both Callie and Kayden battle their inner demons and try to keep a safe distance from each other so no-one will get hurt, dealing with issues of trust and abuse this story is insightful reading that I couldn’t put down.

Honestly written with refreshing characters and dialogue, ‘The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden’ is an unforgettable story about first love, the first taste of happiness and the first taste of freedom, that has left me eagerly looking forward to the sequel.

You can buy The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden from Amazon and is avaialble to buy from good bookshops.
